A Weekend Getaway

Friday, last week, I left for Manila to spend my weekend with Rhea, a very close friend.  After she fetched me at the airport we went directly to my cousin's apartment at Quezon City where he would supposedly make me my favorite dish, Kare-Kare.  Unfortunately, he wasn't able to because he woke up late and wasn’t able to buy the ingredients.  

However, to make it up, he made us pasta, all fresh and homemade.  I was amazed because it was the first time I saw how noodles are made.  Out of flour and eggs,  he made us tasty Fetuccini in Tomato Sauce and Mushroom Ravioli. Oh, how I envy him.  He is only nineteen and he can make yummy dishes!

Sadly, I can’t spend more time with my cousin since he has to go to work and he is running late. So after we gobbled up the two dishes, Rhea and I went to spend the rest of the night at Mall of Asia. By the way, it was the first time I rode the MRT and I was very surprised how congested it was. Everyone is packed like sardines that I could even smell the sweat from the person next to me. It was also the first time I was stuck in traffic for more than an hour. I was complaining to Rhea how much time we have wasted just by traveling alone but there is nothing we can do since that is just the way how Manila is.

We left Quezon City around 4:30 in the afternoon and we arrive at Mall of Asia a little before seven just in time to watch the spectacular fireworks display. Mall of Asia is so huge that even after hours of walking; we still have not covered the whole place. It just made us so hungry. We craved for adventure even in food so we went to Congo Grill, a restaurant that is new to both of us and we were not sorry. All the food we ordered is just so heavenly that we went home with a very full stomach.

Exhausted and drained after a long day, it was a pleasure to finally be in the comfy of Rhea’s bed. Rhea is also a Cebuana like me and she doesn’t have her own place in Manila. She doesn’t live in luxury as well. In fact, her room is so tiny, just perfect for one person only but I never mind since her bed is comfy and cozy at the same time. Her bathroom, which she has to share with a fellow boarder, is no match to any bathroom suites but still I don’t mind as long as I can do my thing. She has plans to get her own place though; one with living room where she can happily meet her guests and a guest room where friends, like me, could sleep over anytime. Of course, she wants a bathroom all for herself, not necessarily luxurious but elegant enough just like at Betterbathrooms. Bathroom suites, tiles, furniture, toilet seats and other bathroom accessories at Betterbathrooms are all elegant but not pricey with hundreds of designs to choose from. Well, I just hope she could get her own place soon so I could have a new bed and bath to use on my next visit.
