No Card, No Worries

You won’t believe it if I say I don’t have a credit card. Well, I don’t have one now but I used to have one before. My one and only credit card expired last June 2007 and after all the spending and bad credit, I have decided that it would be better if we go separate ways. I didn’t renew the said card.

As you see, it’s hard to have a credit card close at hand if you are an impulsive buyer like me. I buy things without thinking even if I don’t really need it. If I see a specific item on sale I would immediately bring it to the cashier even if I don’t have enough cash on hand, anyway I have a credit card. Later on, after I have done a little thinking, only then would I regret buying it. Only then would I realize that there are more important things to buy and the one I recently bought is not even on the list. That kind of attitude made my credit card bills so high I found it hard to pay up. It’s hard to fix bad credit if they had piled up one after the other. That is why, after I have made the necessary payments, I have decided to end the life of my credit card and promised never to submerge myself with debts.

At first it was absolutely hard especially if I see the enchanting, big red “SALE” sign, but eventually I got used to it. Although I missed having one, I never regretted I discontinued its use. With no card to depend on, I only buy things that I need and within the budget. I can now sleep soundly having no worries whatsoever on where to get payment for my debts. .

So before you go shopping this weekend, remember to fix your credit first before the interests pile up and you’d find it hard to catch up on the payments. Always remember having a credit card takes a lot of self discipline and knowing between your needs and your wants. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
